11 Things to Bring on your First Day of College
Going to another phase of yourself life requires some change in you. Change in the way you look, you act, or even in what you bring with you.
I remembered being excited to switch from pencil to pen before, because teachers already know that by that stage students already know how to be cautious in having mistakes, so erasures are being avoided. Now that you're in another step in your life, you have to switch from intermediate paper to yellow paper, and be used to bringing at least a notebook or your laptop or tablet.
You may be a frosh or a senior, but these things can really come in handy when you go to a fresh new semester and have to go over your schedule for like a week or two to be able to remember where your classes are being held and or if you are being required to submit index cards for recitations or photos for the seat plan. Here are the top 11 things to bring on your first day of college.
Farewell to intermediate pads, because yellow paper is now your best friend. One technique that I use for it not to be given out away to people who don't bring their own paper is that I just bring 3-4 sheets, not the whole pad, not only it is space consuming but it can be quite heavy when you bring your whole pad when you only need 1 or 2.
In our school, most of the time only minor subjects require us to bring 1x1/ 2x2 photos, mainly its for Index cards when there's a recitation or for the prof to be familiarize to the class.
Most of the time, you put your basic information in here so that in case the professor won't be around he/she can text the class that there will be no class, in cases when a section is not made of a block. Also its for recitation purposes.
One of the most important things to bring with you on your first day of school, it has the subject on it - section, days, time, room and if there are available already the faculty.
Be sure to know the buildings so that you wouldn't have to spend time looking for it for hours and be lost.
Professors also check if you have your registration form with you to ensure that you are really enrolled in the class.
Take notes, you can buy cute journals at the bookstore or department store, buy fillers or the notebook that has a full pack filler on it.
6. Stapler/ Glue
Sometimes, when you're that much of an introvert like me you get shy to borrow for a stapler and or a glue for your 1x1 or 2x2 photo (dont't worry, its optional!)
In case you get hungry, or need to pay for a set of print-outs that will be given on the first day, because not all students really buy lunch outside or at the cafeteria, some bring their own baon
Professors allow their students sometimes to research for a certain topic for them to be familiarize about it, they also use it to play kahoot! (if you know what I'm talking about) just don't use your phone while the professor is teaching, they may not say it but you're there to learn not to scroll through your phone all day looking at memes (not a meme hater) but you're paying to learn.
Well, we all know the saying "NO ID, NO ENTRY" pretty much speaks for itself. There are a certain number of forgetting your ID for a few times that will get you a minor offense, we don't want a visit at the student discipline office right?
10. PenIt's always a must, just as important as your ID.
11. Willingness
Lastly, your willingness to learn. This is the chance to hone your skills and explore more about your strengths and weakness and how you can deal with it. It can also be a time to make mistakes and ask for guidance to your professors. College is preparing you for the real world, it won't be spoon feeding you anymore that's why you have to be willing to risk and for now prepare for it.
